cant wait, currently struggling with doing an fpc in tscircuit
Seve
Tell me more
Gekko
working on an EMR drawing tablet, currently i just think its really hard to think about 3d in tscircuit, like the top most useful things would be folding done properly so its not so limited (i might be using it wrong, some examples in the docs would be great even if simple), some kind of 3d stackup of the pcbs, not sure if we even need a proper cad kernel just something simple with collision checks with the 3d models of placed parts
Gekko
btw, its very painful to open a GUI tool after getting used to tscircuit, great job 😄
Seve
amazing yea feel free to send references of assemblies etc. 3d support is brand new, we have a boolean kernel (manifold) that is nice and fast/lightweight and capable of collisions and many other things
Seve
we are doing a lot of assembly related stuff right now!
Gekko
after some trial and error, i find that working with enclosure + fpc with folding + pcb + other 3d components is really good if you ask opus 5.5 for svgs of the assembly, i think it also helps the AI think about the whole device a lot better and its also easier to prompt what you want and how done looking at 2d crossections
Seve
What is generating the flex pcb for you? You’re not using the builtin pcbbend or anything yet right
Gekko
yeah i tried to use pcbbend and the built in stuff but it didnt work out, so right now i use <board material="flex" routingDisabled>, <trace pcbPath> and <pcbtrace>, with custom coverlay and stiffner gerber stuff because <pcbstiffener> also didnt work, mostly AI written for my usecase
Gekko
but what got me the biggest improvement is the svg stuff (these models are trained on svgs a lot i guess), since then everything is smooth sailing even if tscircuit doesnt have what i need exactly
Seve
can you file an issue with your AI saying what it ran into, i'd love to fix the bend issues, they are extremely new
Seve
likewise for stiffener
Seve
you can file it to github.com/tscircuit/tscircuit
Gekko
https://github.com/tscircuit/tscircuit/issues/5277
Gekko
hopefully its useful
Seve
tyty
Seve
yea no this is fantastic, these are all very valid
Seve
thank you!
Seve
we discuss flex support and 3d stuff in the <#1526692261247586464> channel a lot fwiw, i will try to knock out some of these today
Gekko
looking forward to it thanks 😄
