Hey <@757706909351411845> , floating a proposal before I over-build it. footprinter has no land-pattern engine: every footprint is hand-tuned, so pads drift from KiCad wherever nobody tuned them (QFN too small in #413, soic8 in #274, the four courtyard-exempt parts in #731). Nothing in the org computes a land pattern from package dimensions. I built a focused one, ipc7351. You give it the datasheet lead dimensions and a density level, it returns KiCad-correct pads and a courtyard using the same IPC-7351B math KiCad's own footprint generator uses. It is validated to the digit against real KiCad footprints (SOIC-8, R_0603, QFN-32) and tested with the same courtyard-diff parity harness footprinter uses, plus PCB SVG snapshots. It could back footprinter's defaults (compute pad width, length and pitch from dimensions instead of hardcoding them) or live as its own single-purpose org repo like the other tools. Would you want it? Happy to open the repo and wire a proof into footprinter, starting with the parts that are off KiCad today. Repo: https://github.com/zkasuran/ipc7351

looks like a good repo but the only thing we're going to refactor footprinter to is TSX- integrating another library would be going in the wrong direction

Totally fair, keeping footprinter to one TSX source beats importing another library. I'll leave ipc7351 as my own reference for KiCad-correct land dimensions and just fix footprinter's pads directly where they drift, like the tqfp44 one I sent. If the TSX refactor has a tracking issue or a shape you want new footprints in, point me at it and I'll send fixes and new footprints in that form.
